August 4, 2026 – HighGround was pleased to have three interns with us this summer. We recently sat down to learn more about our Investments intern, Brody Boushey, and his experience working at HighGround.
Where are you from? What school do you attend, and what are you studying?
I’m from Prosper, Texas, and I just graduated with a degree in Finance from Texas Tech University.
What brought you to HighGround?
I went to Texas Tech’s career fair and met [Investment Analyst] Michael Duncan. After that, I did a couple of interviews. I loved the emphasis on values and the religious background at HighGround. Everything worked out and they reached out to me and offered me the internship.
What all did you do in your time here?
The main thing I’ve done is take part in investment manager meetings, and I’ve gotten exposure to both public and private sides. I’ve learned a lot about the due diligence that goes into selecting and keeping investment managers, what those managers offer and how they can grow our client partners’ capital.
What have you learned in your time here? What’s your biggest takeaway?
I think [Director of Private Markets] Philip Godfrey’s weekly lessons have been one of the most impactful things during my internship. He’s taught me to be kind to everyone you meet, because you’ll meet everyone at least three times during your career and the importance of emotional intelligence and remembering people’s tendencies and conversations. He also encouraged me to always say yes during meetings, because it will help broaden my knowledge.
What is a favorite moment from your time at HighGround?
My favorite moment was my first Insights meeting, when we had a prayer for the whole company. I took it all in and saw how value-focused HighGround is and how they put the Lord first. That’s super important to me. I also appreciated how kind everyone is and how many people have taken time out of their day to come talk to me.
We focus on strengths at HighGround and utilize the CliftonStrengths assessment. What are your top five strengths?
Belief, Learner, Connectedness, Communication and Intellection.
Which of the HighGround core values resonates most deeply with you and why?
Definitely serving, because it applies to all aspects of work. You can be serving your clients by protecting, strengthening and growing their funds to grow their causes. Or you can be serving your coworkers and the investment managers you work with. It’s not just clients, it’s everyone. If you do your best, they can do their best.
How do you like to spend your time? What are your hobbies or passions?
I like to play golf, and I do some woodworking like building cabinets or shelves. I also like to read.
What does the future hold for you?
I’m starting a new role as a Mergers and Acquisitions Associate for Cain Watters & Associates in Dallas.
